SKINS Compression

You train hard, pushing your body to it’s limits… but that doesn’t mean that you should have to suffer the consequences post workout.

Luckily, we’ve found a solution to sore & tired muscles, thanks to SKINS Compression.

skins-compression

How (& why) does SKINS compression work?  Basically, the clothing is designed & engineered to apply surface pressure to specific body parts. This pressure enhances circulation, creating more oxygen for your muscles. The end result?  Increased power, speed and stamina!

Whether you wear SKINS compression during your work out to help combat lactic acid build up, or after your activity to aid in recovery, you won’t be disappointed.

St. Malachi 5 miler

sparkle-skirts-st-malachi-5-miler1. Name: Kimi

2.Tell us about your race experience: I’ve been a runner off and on since middle school running track and cross country in high school and college. After a few years of not enough running I finally got back into after the birth of my son and haven’t looked back since. Last year I completed my first marathon and am looking forward to years of running to come!

3. What race did you run? I requested the pink traveling sparkle skirt for the St. Malachi 5-Miler in Cleveland, OH. This is the first big race of the 2012 race season around here and I wanted to make a splash and kick off my season with some fun!

4. Why did you sign up for this race? It was my first race post-baby where I really fell in love with running again so I couldn’t wait to return this year and crush my previous time!

5. What/who inspires you to run? Running is my form of religion. I don’t go to church, but pounding the pavement for miles with time to think, reflect, dream, struggle, triumph and a million other things is how I keep my life together. I’m also inspired by my friends! I have a lot of very dedicated and talented running buddies.

6. What is your best training tip? Body glide!

7. Water or Sports Drink? I’m a nuun addict! I discovered it last year and haven’t looked back since.

8. Tell us about the outcome of the race: I totally crushed my goals during this race! I beat my previous course time by 9 minutes! 5 miles in 43:35 for a new 5 mile PR!

9. Your favorite post-race indulgence?  Chocolate milk

10. Favorite part of racing in a Sparkle Skirt? It was fun for so many other runners to tell me they loved my skirt, plus it’s fun to feel fast and cute at the same time!

Team Sparkle didn’t just attend the Tinkerbell Half Marathon, Team Sparkle skirts INVADED the Tinkerbell Half Marathon

Team Sparkle Skirts INVADES Tinkerbell Half Marathon

With a rainbow of Team Sparkle Skirts, Sparkle Sleeves, Sparkle Wings & Race Legs, we were ready to outfit each & every possible version of Tinkerbell & her pixie fairy friends.

Luckily for Team Sparkle, our friends Tinkerbell, Snow White, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)  were able to stop by the the Tinkerbell Half Marathon Team Sparkle Skirts Booth to help out.

Even Minnie Mouse made time in her busy schedule to visit the Team Sparkle booth at the Tinkerbell Half Marathon.

We spent the entire weekend passing out tattoos & pixie dust, and encouraging a few new ladies to “join the team.”

sparkle-skirts-tinkerbell-half-marathon

Not many people were able to resist the power of sparkle. EVERYWHERE you looked at the Tinkerbell Half Marathon, it wasn’t hard to spot a Team Sparkle Skirt.

While there’s no “official” count, there were well over 500 Team Sparkle skirts racing the Tinkerbell Half Marathon (& that doesn’t even count all the team members wearing Team Sparkle Wings, Sparkle Sleeves or Race Legs).

I don’t know about you – but we LOVED racing the Tinkerbell Half Marathon surround by SO many Team Sparkle Skirts. Even though we are “technically” strangers, it’s nice to know we are apart of something “bigger,” that we aren’t out there alone, & that we are apart of a “team,”  brought together by sparkle.

And while we are super proud of everyone on Team Sparkle – we wanted to congratulate Juliet Wisdom & Linda Manion (both from Orange County, CA) on their Top 25 Overall finish, as well as the several other ladies who finished in the top 10 of their Age Groups!

As we like to say… sparkle = speed.

On the Podium

Since Kim has started “sparkling” she has won her age group in two half marathons (the Labor Day 1/2 Marathon in Seattle where she ran in 1 hour & 43 minutes, & the San Antonio Rock ‘n Roll 1/2 Marathon where she ran in 1 hour & 47 minutes), and two 10Ks (Marine Corps 10K & Issaquah Salmon Days 10K).

She says her Team Sparkle skirt brings her luck… especially since she she hasn’t been training for distance races the last several months. & Yet, every race she runs, she’s found herself “on the podium.”

Kim credits her recent success to Team Sparkle & NUUN.
